Year after year, the competition for the exam is increasing rapidly. To prepare effectively and pass the exam, candidates must work hard and devote their time.

Every year the IIMs conduct the CAT Exam on a rotational basis. The CAT Exam for 2022 is scheduled for 28th November 2022. Before starting your preparations, having a clear comprehension of the syllabus is essential. Besides understanding the syllabus and exam pattern, choosing the right learning environment is vital.

When you take the first step in your CAT preparation, You will be concerned about where to start and how to proceed. If you are looking for the best CAT Coaching in Delhi, there is a wide variety of coaching options to choose from, but remember to patiently research and choose the best coaching option that will be your buddy throughout your journey to ace CAT.

What is the syllabus for the CAT Exam?

There are three sections in the CAT Exam. They are Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension,

Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability. Questions are based on a wide range of topics from the above section. A few important topics of the VARC Section are Reading Comprehension Passages, Para Jumbles, Para Summary, Sentence Completion, Cloze Passage. DILR includes topics from Puzzles, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Tables, Pie Charts, Venn Diagrams, Caselets, Aptitude questions based on Number System, Algebra, Trigonometry, Mensuration, etc.

How is the CAT Score calculated?

The CAT Exam comprises MCQs and Non-MCQs (TITA) questions. Candidates receive three marks for every correct answer. There is a negative marking of 1 mark for incorrect answers. TITA Questions do not have negative markings. Most of the aspirants have a misconception of the CAT score vs Percentile mapping. CAT score is simply a candidate’s total score. The CAT score facilitates percentile measurement. CAT percentiles represent the percentage of test-takers who scored the same as or less than a particular exam taker.

In the CAT exam, each section has a limited time limit. Aspirants must tackle the questions carefully within the given time limit. An On-Screen timer will alert you on time left to answer the questions. The CAT exam is section-based, which means one cannot jump between the sections or choose the sections according to their preferences. The questions are to be answered sequentially.

How long does it take to complete the syllabus?

The CAT Exam has a high level of difficulty and competition. Your dream to the desired management institute becomes a reality based on your hard work and consistent practice. Learning speed varies from person to person. It is ideal to start preparing for the exam 6-8 months in advance. When you have ample time left, you get a deep understanding of every topic. You will be able to practise a lot of mocks and sample papers. But, if you are behind schedule, three months of dedicated preparation will work.
